Sialkot Customs disposes of worth Rs77.900m duty drawback claims

SIALKOT: The Model Customs Collectorate (MCC), Sialkot, disposed of about 955 duty drawback claims of Rs77.900 million during December 2016 to January 18, 2017 whereas 66,088 duty drawback claims of Rs5444.533 million were pending on January 18, 2017.

According to details, the Model Customs Collectorate ( MCC), Sialkot, disposed of duty drawback claims during the month of December 2016 to January 18, 2017 which valued Rs0.128 million. The collectorate added that duty drawback claims disposed of four and a half months earlier were eight and the paid value was Rs0.129 million for these claims.

Sources said that during the abovementioned period, the Sialkot Collectorate disposed of 31 duty drawback claims of six to 12 months which valued Rs0.214 million. The MCC Sialkot set aside the duty drawback claims of more than one year which were 955 and valued Rs77.900 million during the month of December 2016 to January 18, 2017.

Sources further said the duty drawback claims pending on January 18 were over 5,000. Sources added that the duty drawback claims were 7,319 and the value involved for these claims was Rs480.490 million. Sources said the pending cases of three to six months old were 7,316 and the amount involved against these claims was Rs524.086 million.

Sources said there were 16,702 old pending duty drawback claims on January 18, 2017 and the value involved for these claims was Rs1325.989 million. There were 22,759 pending duty drawback claims of more than one year and the value involved for these claims was Rs2005.863 million.

Sources said the MCC Sialkot is ready to clear all the pending duty drawback claims whereas the Federal Board of Revenue is also giving preference to clear the duty drawback claims as the present government has announced that the duty drawback claims should be cleared as soon as possible to give relief to the exporters and importers.
