SIALKOT: Collectorate of Customs team has foiled a major attempt to smuggle dozens of rare tortoises from Sialkot international airport to Malaysia via Dubai.
On August 15, a local accused clearing agent had booked several cartons under the name of an exporter Muhammad Ejaz for Malaysia at the cargo section of Sialkot international airport.
During the special checking, the Customs officials found dozens of live rare tortoises wrapped in cloths in five cartons.
Customs officials took the seized turtles into custody. Senior officials said that further investigations were underway, with no arrest, in this regard.
