SIALKOT: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation Department Gujranwala has impounded non-customs paid vehicles and miscellaneous goods worth Rs 31.91 million during June of the previous fiscal year.
The Customs Intelligence has launched various anti-smuggling campaigns in its jurisdiction and has registered 13 seizures cases in Gujranwala division. These seizure cases were registered in Gujranwala Sialkot, Narowal, Hafizabad and Sheikhupura. The Customs Intelligence and Investigation Department has seized Indian and Iranian origin cloth, red chillies, Iranian nylon rope, vehicles and other items.
The officials submitted all seizure cases after lodging advance information report to Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation. Most of the cases have been forwarded to Customs Adjudication for their final conclusion.
There was no contravention formed by Customs Intelligence and Investigation during the month of June in their anti-smuggling actions. An official told Customs Today that the anti smuggling campaign against smugglers will continue with full force by the Customs Intelligence and Investigation department. He said that the teams of department performing their duties on roads to eradicate smuggling from the country. He said that the department trust on informers and officials also raids on the information of informers whereas the department has showed outstanding performance during the fiscal year 2015-16 and hoped that department will continue to show best performance during fiscal year 2016-17.
