Sialkot Customs recovers non-duty paid Iranian cloth, rope from van at GT Road

SIALKOT: Customs Intelligence and Investigation Gujranwala Region team confiscated smuggled Iranian cloth and nylon rope at GT road worth Rs.1,00,000 on other day.

Sources told Customs Today that Superintendent Muhammad Rauf Farooqi directed Deputy Superintendent Muhammad Anwar to constitute a team to curb smuggling activities in the region.

The deputy superintendent constituted a team under the supervision of Inspector Nasar Ullah. The said inspector along with his team members including constables Usama, Sajid and Mubashir started checking of vehicles at GT Road.

The customs team intercepted a van which was coming from Rawalpindi and heading towards Lahore, During checking of vehicle recovered smuggled Iranian cloth and Nylon rope worth Rs.100.000.

The team asked driver namely Rafi about booking documents of loaded goods but driver was failed to produce any booking documents. The team confiscated the recovered items and released driver with van after proper interrogation.

The team will send legal notice to manager of bus stand under Customs Act 1969. The team shifted confiscated goods in the warehouse of the department and will send the case to Customs Adjudication department for further proceedings.

If Customs Adjudication announces judgment in favor of the department then department will be liable to auction of confiscated items.
