SIALKOT: The Collectorate of Customs Sialkot, during its ongoing anti-smuggling operation, has seized non-duty paid goods worth Rs 50 million in more than 76 raids.
According to details, the customs authorities in collaboration with law enforcement agencies have started a grand blockade and surveillance operation at main entries of Gujranwala division in order to check smuggling of contraband goods to other parts of the country.
On the directives of Director General of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Imtiaz Ahmad Khan, Collector Customs Ahmed Reza Khan is supervising the operation. The focal persons of the operation are Director Customs Intelligence and Investigation Department Punjab Saud Imran Ahmed and Additional Collector Customs House Sialkot Faiz Ali while Assistant Director Customs Intelligence and Investigation Department Gujranwala Division Ms. Zainab Mehmood and Assistant Collector Fahad Bashir Chaudhary are leading the operation.
The customs team seized different items which includes tea, cloth, narcotics, toys, mobile phones carrier vehicles and non-duty paid vehicles and which were mostly smuggled from Afghanistan, Iran, Kashmir and China Transit Trade.
