Sialkot Customs seizes smuggled cumin seeds

SIALKOT: The Customs Anti-Smuggling Organisation (ASO) has confiscated smuggled Indian cumin seeds worth Rs 100, 000 during an action on Grand Trunk (GT) Road near Gujrat

Reportedly, a team of the ASO was checking vehicles on GT Road near Gujrat to curb smuggling in guise of Kashmir Transit Trade under the supervision of Inspector Aamir. Then the team intercepted a bus which was coming from Mirpur (AJK) and recovered Indian cumin seeds. The team asked the driver named Rehmat about booking papers of the recovered item but he remained fail to produce the same.

Therefore, the team confiscated cumin seeds and released the driver after proper interrogation. The team shifted the consignment to the warehouse of Sialkot Customs.

The officials also registered a case against the manager of Mirpur Bus Stand and sent it to the Customs Adjudication for further proceedings. If the learned court announces judgment in favour of the department, the cumin seeds will be auctioned.
