SIALKOT: The Model Customs Collectorate (MCC) has seized huge quantity of non-duty paid goods worth Rs7 million in 12 raids during the month of November.
On the strict directions of Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) the Customs Collector Ahmed Reza Khan is supervising the operation of Anti Smuggling Organization (ASO).
Customs sources told Customs Today that during the various raid the ASO teams seized different items included tea, cloth, narcotics, toys, mobile phones. LCD’s carrier vehicles and non-duty paid vehicles.
Sources added that mostly items were smuggled from Afghanistan, Iran, Kashmir and China Transit Trade. The Additional Collector Faiz Ali told that the Performance of ASO is much better to curb smuggling and fruitful results are observing day by day. He said that the FBR has strictly ordered to Pakistan Customs that the department must take keen interest to curb smuggling while the department tighten nose around the smugglers.
Faiz Ali said that the smuggling is not in favour of any country rather the nation should help of customs department to eliminate the smuggling. He said that all teams of ASO and customs preventive staff area committed to eradicate the smuggling from the Gujranwala Region while they will achieve the target to curb smuggling under the anti-smuggling campaign which was started by the FBR.
Chairman FBR Nisar Muhammad Khan has instructed all Customs Collectors that they must send report to FBR about anti-smuggling campaign. He said that customs preventive staff is also performing much better duty at Sialkot International Airport Limited (SIAL) while the smuggling decreasing day by day and more fruitful result will be observed to curb smuggling.
