SIALKOT: Assistant Collector Customs Sialkot Fahad Bashir Chaudhary has said that the Sialkot Customs collected Rs 23 million under the head of import duty from importers during August 2016 against the assigned target of Rs 20 million.
Talking to Customs Today, Fahad said that most of the consignments imported through Sialkot Dry Port Trust included leather material, leather garments, surgical instruments and the raw material for the production of sports goods. He said that importers import a huge quantity of raw material every month and they are bound to clear their goods within 25 days otherwise the Customs Department is authorized to confiscate the material.
He said if any importer will not contact to clear his import items after the passage of time, he will have to pay fine otherwise material will not be cleared.
He said some time vehicles and the spare parts are also imported through the dry port, adding that the port is good place to import items.
