Sialkot Customs to start awareness campaign against smuggled goods from Oct 1

SIALKOT: Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation considering starting an awareness campaign from October 1 for shopkeepers, selling non-duty paid and smuggled items.

Sources told Customs Today that during the campaign, the customs employees will display banners and distribute pamphlets to people on roads. The customs officials will also meet social workers lawyers, teachers, journalists and doctors to get their help in anti-smuggling campaign. The collectors and deputy collectors will also take part in the campaign.

Sources said that Federal Board Of Revenue (FBR) has already granted approval to start the awareness campaign against smuggled goods and any shopkeeper who found involved in selling smuggling goods will face action like attaching of bank accounts and seizure of property, while legal proceedings will also be taken against them.
