Sialkot Excise achieves recovery target set for six months of FY 2015-16

SIALKOT: The Sialkot Excise and Taxation Department has achieved its official recovery target set for the first six months of the fiscal year 2015-16 and has recovered Rs 235 million in different categories of taxes, including property tax, motor registration tax, professional tax etc. The official recovery target was Rs 200 million.

District Excise and Taxation Officer Sialkot Ch. Muzaffar Qayyum disclosed this while talking to the newsmen at his office here. He said that the Excise Department has yet registered as many as 75,882 vehicles including motorcycles until December 2015 and earned Rs 106 million as motor registration tax. The department had registered 54,745 vehicles during 2014 besides earning Rs 91.5 million as motor registration tax during 2014. He said that this year, the Excise Department has earned Rs 14 million more registration tax than the 2014.

He revealed that the special recovery teams have jazzed up the pace of its ongoing recovery campaign launched in Sialkot district’s all the four Sialkot, Daska, Sambrial and Pasrur tehsils, saying that the teams have sealed as many as 300 properties of the defaulters for not paying their prolonged outstanding arrears. He said that these chronic defaulters were reluctant to clear their dues despite the repeated issuance of the recovery notices by the E&T department in Sialkot district.
