Sialkot Excise seals properties, offices of chronic defaulters

SIALKOT: The 100 special recovery teams of the Excise and Taxation Department have sealed as many as 40 showrooms and offices of the property dealers, besides, sealing as many as 258 other properties of the chronic defaulters for the prolonged non-payment of their taxes in Gujranwala Division’s all the six Sialkot, Narowal, Gujrat, Mandi Bahaud Din, Hafizabad and Gujranwala districts here today.

According to the senior E&T officials, these teams also checked as many as 1500 different luxury vehicles by setting up pickets at all the in and out ways there. They also impounded 186 vehicles for the non-payment of their taxes as well.

Meanwhile, the Excise and Taxation department has started “SMS Service” for issuing the 15000 computerized number plates to the commuters in Gujranwala Division’s all the six Sialkot, Narowal, Gujrat, Mandi Bahaud Din, Hafizabad and Gujranwala districts here today.

The senior E& T officials added that these 15000 computerized number plates of the motorcycles, cars and other vehicles had been lying unattended at the E&T offices for the last several years and applicants were reluctant to collect their number plates as well.

The officials added that now the E&T officials were sending the SMS to the applicants asking them to collect their computerized number plates from their concerned E&T offices as well.
