Sialkot Excise to seal properties of 2,000 tax defaulters

SIALKOT: The Excise and Taxation Department has announced to seal all the properties of the more than 2,000 big and chronic defaulters in Gujranwala Division.

According to the details, Director Excise Gujranwala Rao Shakeelur Rehman has formulated special recovery teams under the supervision of the District Excise and Taxation Officers for sealing the moveable and un-moveable properties of more than 2,000 chronic and big defaulters in Sialkot, Narowal, Gujrat, Mandi Bahaud Din, Hafizabad and Gujranwala districts.

The Excise director told Customs Today that the defaulters were still reluctant to pay their prolonged pending arrears by using their political influence. He said that the defaulters were repeatedly issued recovery and warning notices by the department.

He said that excise department’s special teams would start confiscating the properties of the above-mentioned accused 2000 property tax defaulters through the local courts with the help of the revenue department, in this regard.
