Sialkot exporters being facilitated as per law: Muhammad Ilyas

SIALKOT: Model Customs Collectorate Deputy Collector Muhammad Ilyas has said that the department was facilitating the exporters and importers of the Sialkot region within the limits of law in order to boost the trade level of country.

While talking to Customs Today, Ilyas said that the customs department eased the procedures for exporters, adding that “We are trying our best to encourage traders of the regions as they are the major sources of revenue, which is used for different projects and played crucial role in development of the country”.

He said that the officials who performed their duties at Sialkot Dry Port Trust (SDPT) and Sialkot International Airport (SIAL) have been directed to make honest efforts for removing the hurdles faced by traders at the time of import and export.

He further added that all consignments of export and import were cleared after proper checking to curb the smuggling, especially drugs trafficking. If any exporter or importer found involved in sending narcotics or other prohibited items in guise of consignments, he will deal with according the law, while consignment will also be confiscated. The accused company will also be put on blacklist barring it from doing any activity at the dry port and airport.
