Sialkot exporters have written a golden history of self-help: Mayor

SIALKOT: Mayor of Sialkot Municipal Corporation Chaudhary Tauheed Akhtar has said Sialkot exporters have written a unique golden history of ‘self-help’. He said the industrialists and exporters of Sialkot had set a unique precedent for others by successfully launching a mega project on self-help basis.

He stated this while addressing the participants of a welcoming luncheon ceremony hosted in his honour by the management of Sialkot International Airport on Tuesday. MPA Ch. Muhammad Ikram, Chairman SIAL Malik Muhammad Ashraf, CEO SIAL Maj-Gen (Retd) Mir Haider Ali Khan, Chairman Air Sial Airline Fazal Jillani, Sialkot exporters’ leader, business tycoon Riazud Din Sheikh and SIAL’s former chairmen and directors also attended the ceremony.

Chairman Sialkot International Airport Limited (SIAL) Malik Muhammad Ashraf added that the mega Sialkot airport project is now opening the new vistas of economic development in the country and bringing a boom in the industrial sector. He said it would also help in doubling the annual export from Sialkot from existing exports $ 2billion, thus catering to the need of the Pakistan’s first ever Golden Export Triangle comprising Sialkot, Gujrat and Gujranwala districts.

Chairman SIAL narrated that the Sialkot international airport has also ensured an easy access of Sialkot exporters to the international business routs, foreign destinations and international trade markets besides leaving very positive, health and pleasant impacts on regional economic growth and human development in Pakistan’s first ever “Gold Export Triangle”.

He revealed that the SIAL management is also planning to establish an international standard five star hotel near Sialkot international airport. He said the SIAL management will also establish an international standard Exhibition Hall/ Display Centre at Sialkot International Airport for facilitating the Sialkot exporters, enabling them to hold the international exhibitions of their export products to attract the foreigners there.

Later, Chairman SIAL Malik Muhammad Ashraf presented a shield to visiting Mayor of Sialkot Chaudhary Tauheed Akhtar.
