Sialkot exporters seek govt patronage, special incentives package

SIALKOT: President Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) Zahid Latif Malik has said that the Sialkot exporters have been playing a pivotal role in strengthening national economy and earning US$ 2 billion foreign exchange annually.

He was addressing a meeting of Sialkot exporters at the SCCI, here on Thursday. Senior Vice President Abdul Waheed, Vice President Abid Ahmed Khawaja and exporters Riazuddin Sheikh, Dr Muhammad Aslam Dar, Dr Nouman Idrees Butt, Dr Mariyam Nouman, Khawar Anwar Khawaja, Masud Akhtar Khawaja, Mian Muhammad Anwar, Maj ® Mansur Ahmed and Mohsin Gull also attended the meeting. The SCCI president urged the government to announce a special package for trade and export-related incentives for the Sialkot exporters from the Export Development Fund (EDF) through Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP).

He said that the government should also encourage and patronize Sialkot exporters at every level. He said the Sialkot exporters were facing problems due to non-clearance of their duty drawback, sales tax and income tax refund claims.

SCCI Vice President Abid Ahmed Khawaja said that the Sialkot exporters were ‘ambassadors’ of the country who had been playing an important role in strengthening the national economy.
