Exporters start sending shipments from Sialkot after LHC verdict on Infrastructure Development Cess

SIALKOT: The exporters of Sialkot have started export through Sialkot Dry Port Trust (SDPT) and Sialkot International Airport Limited (SIAL) after the Lahore High Court (LHC) restricted the Punjab government from receiving 0.9 tax in the wake of Infrastructure Development Cess.

Sources told Customs Today that the exporters of Sialkot were sending their consignments to Karachi for clearance and loading because the government of Punjab imposed 0.9 tax in the wake of Infrastructure Development Cess and the process of consignments clearance was halted at SDPT and airport and exports had witnessed downward trend.

Sources told the Lahore High Court has granted stay order on a writ petition filed by exporters. After this exporters started to send their consignments their consignments through dry port and airport. Sources told that exporters have appreciated verdict of LHC. Exporters said that new three writ petition are already filed in LHC against said tax and learned court has accepted petitions for hearing proceedings.

Sources told that exporters already rejected Infrastructure Development Cess and declared it as unjustified and they urged the government of Punjab to withdraw this tax.
