The officials said that owners of such shops were earning millions of rupees but never paid taxes by concealing their actual earning. They added that the department will scrutinise the record collected by teams and recovered 17 percent sales tax from the non-taxpayers under Section 40-B.

The owners of bakeries and sweet shops told Customs Today that the customers were not ready to pay 17 percent sales tax adding that they could get tax from them forcibly.
