SIALKOT: The special recovery teams of the Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) have sealed as many as 33 shops car dealers shops as the PRA has stepped up campaign in Gujranwala Division for the recovery of the sales tax on services sectors recently levied by the Punjab government.

Additional Commissioner PRA Gujranwala Division Shafqat Rasul told Customs Today that there were more than 100 shops of car dealers in Gujranwala and they were reluctant to pay sales tax despite the repeated warning and recovery notices issued to them.

Meanwhile, the car dealers have strongly protested against this PRA swoop against them, saying that the car dealers have already been passing through the very crucial circumstances and PRA crackdown against them was also adding into their miseries. They said that they were already paying taxes to the Excise and Taxation Department, but now the levy of sales tax by Punjab government would prove a cut throat for the car dealers.

The perturbed car dealers have urged the Punjab government to abolish the PRA sales tax in the larger interest of the nation as well.
