Speaking on the occasion, the Sindh Minister for Revenue said that with the inauguration of the digital scanning unit, the old practice of microfilming of the land record, which had  been in practice for the last 35 years in the department, would end.

On the occasion, the provincial minister said that the Sindh government had conceived the idea of launching the digital scanning unit for preserving records pertaining to land and real estate in the best of manner.

“By introducing digital scanning, the records pertaining to property and land would be effectively saved”, he added.

The minister said that the system of digital scanning would potentially eliminate corruption in land record cases, while people would be facilitated with provision of speedy record keeping services.

The provincial minister further said that the citizens would be able to get attested copy of the record of their property in just half an hour.

Makhdoom Jamil-uz-Zaman said such digital scanning units would be introduced in every divisional headquarters of the province.

According to him, around 35,000 pending files pertaining to the land revenue record have been preserved under the digital scanning system.

He also said that the citizens would be able to get documents pertaining to their property in just three days instead of several weeks, which had become a normal practice in the old system.
