KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on Saturday called on Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Mian Saqib Nisar in his court chamber in Karachi and discussed various significant matters.

Talking to media after the meeting, the chief minister clarified that he was not summoned by the chief justice but he had requested him for a meeting. Among other matters, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) was discussed in the meeting, he said.

It is recalled that Pakistan People Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) had earlier this month vowed to give tough time to the government over NAB’s actions against members of the opposition parties.

The chief minister said that the meeting was not held over the alleged non-cooperation by the Sindh government with the Joint Investigation Team (JIT), which has been formed by the Supreme Court to probe the mega money-laundering scam.

He added that matters pertaining to the provincial working were also discussed in the meeting, adding that he also informed the top judge about the complaints of the JIT.

Providing information to the JIT is the duty of the institution, not the chief minister, Murad said. He lamented that the JIT had given just two days to the provincial government to get details about irrigation works and services, adding that how can the details be provided to it in a short period.

“The chief justice congratulated me on again becoming the chief minister,” Murad said, adding that the judge also hailed the improvement in hospital’s conditions in Karachi.
