Sindh Excise impounds 923 vehicles, recovers Rs 12.68m tax

KARACHI: The Sindh Excise and Taxation checked overall 24,117 vehicles and impounded 923 vehicles, while seized the documents of 2681 vehicles.

The department checked 11,370 vehicles Karachi, 4,412 in Hyderabad, 4,298 in Sukkur, 1,148 in Larkana, 1,921 in Mirpurkhas and 968 vehicles in Shaheed Benazirabad. A total Rs 12,686,921 was collected in term of due taxes and fines as well. Due to non-payment of motor vehicle taxes and non availability of proper documents, 923 vehicles were impounded while the documents of 2681 vehicles were seized, said a statement. However 1604 impounded vehicles have been released after receiving tax and fines.

The Road Checking Campaign was launched across Sindh from September 20 to 29, in Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Larkana, Mirpurkhas and Shaheed Benazirabad on the special directives of Provincial Minister for Excise and Taxation Mukesh Kumar Chawla.

Meanwhile, Minister for Excise and Taxation Mukesh Kumar Chawla has congratulated the checking teams for conducting a successful Road Checking Campaign and said that it was a great achievement with collective efforts.
