Sindh Excise minister says vigilance increased to stop liquor smuggling

KARACHI: Provincial Minister for Excise and Taxation and Narcotics Control Mukesh Kumar Chawla has directed all Regional Directors to increase vigilance at bordering areas of the province and personally monitor that no liquor should be smuggled from other provinces.

This he said while presiding over a meeting in his office here. The minister warned that he would not tolerate any negligence or deliberate failure in the matter and the concerned officials would have to face strict disciplinary proceedings under Removal from Service (Special Powers) Sindh Ordinance 2002.

Mukesh further directed them to constitute and assign special teams at entry/exit points for crackdown against elements involved in such smuggling and its illegal sale in the province.

The minister said that the E&T Department is strictly following the orders of Sindh High Court and all liquor shops across the province had been closed.

E&T Secretary Dr Mansoor Abbas Rizvi and DG Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui also attended the meeting.
