Sindh govt clarifies no new tax/fee levied in budget 2017-18

KARACHI: The Sindh government clarified on Tuesday that neither any new tax/fee has been levied nor increased in the provincial budget 2017-18.

“It is reported in a section of press that the Government of Sindh, through the Sindh Budget 2017-18 announced on June 5, has proposed certain new levies and also certain increases in the rates of tax and fee.

“It is clarified for the information of all concerned that no new tax or fee has levied or increased through the Sindh Finance Bill, 2017,” said an official statement on Tuesday.  On the contrary, the rates of Sindh Sales Tax on certain services have been reduced to a lower rate which shall provide relief to the persons concerned, it added.

The statement said the news about levy of tax/ duty on property of 120 square yards or on cinema tickets or enhancement of fee on liquor shops, as reported in a section of press, is incorrect.
