Singapore, Malaysia nail down drug smuggling ring, arrest nine smugglers

SINGAPORE: A drug-trafficking ring comprising Malaysians and Singaporeans has been crippled with the arrest of nine suspects during a joint operation carried out by the police forces of the two countries.

Various types of drugs worth RM310,000 were seized from the suspects, aged between 23 and 46 years, who included two Singaporeans.

Johor police chief Comm Datuk Mohd Mokhtar Mohd Shariff said the arrests were made following information provided by Singapore’s Central Narcotics Bureau.

The drugs seized included 4,450 Eramin 5 pills, 150 ecstasy pills, heroin, ketamine and syabu.

The police also seized Malaysian and Singapore currencies, nine cars, four motorcycles, jewellery and wristwatches worth more than RM750,000.

The nine suspects have been remanded until tomorrow.
