SINGAPORE: All taxpayers in Singapore will have a personal income tax rebate of 50 per cent this year. Capped at $1,000, the rebate will be granted automatically to all eligible taxpayers and changes will be reflected in their tax bills.
This year will also mark the first time taxpayers are allowed to share the parent relief amongst claimants. The tax ceiling for parent relief has also been increased by between $1,000 and $3,000, depending on the type of parent relief being claimed.
The Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore (IRAS) will also pre-fill commission information of individual commission earners for the first time, thereby simplifying the process for these taxpayers.
A total of 1.31 million taxpayers are eligible for the No-Filing Service (NFS) this year. This means that taxes will be automatically filed for them.
Most of the NFS taxpayers who have no changes to the pre-filled income and reliefs will be able to preview their online tax bill and request early assessment from March 1 onwards.
Those not eligible for the service will be notified and reminded to file their taxes via myTax.iras.gov.sg by April 18.
Taxpayers who are unsure whether they need to file a tax return this year can SMS filetax NRIC/FIN to 91164900 or call 1800-356 8300.
Taxpayers, including sole proprietors and partners are reminded to file their income tax returns by April 18 or to send in their paper returns by April 15.
