Singapore stocks open 0.2pc higher, STI adds 0.24%

SINGAPORE: Singapore shares opened 0.2 per cent higher as at 9.03 am on Wednesday, with the Straits Times Index up 8.07 points to 3,303.2 after MSCI held off on adding China A Shares to its emerging markets index but left the door open to do so down the road.

Singapore Telecommunications was an early riser, adding 0.24 per cent or one Singapore cent to trade at S$4.13, helping to lift the index.

About 72 million shares worth S$75 million in total changed hands, which worked out to an average unit price of S$1.05 per share.

The most actively traded stock was Loyz Energy, which rose S$0.011 to S$0.130 with 18.4 million shares changing hands. Other actives included Noble Group and MDR.

Gainers outnumbered losers 76 to 69, or about 10 up for every 9 down.
