SINGAPORE: By the end of 2016, Boat Quay visitors will enjoy unblocked views of the Singapore River and shophouses nearby.
A majority of the precinct’s businesses have approved the plans to revamp the waterfront promenade, and construction works will begin in the first quarter of 2016.
The Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) will be funding the entire cost of the project, estimated to be about $5 million.
At a media briefing on Wednesday, it was announced that the revamped Boat Quay will have three open spaces from which the public can view the river and shophouses, without having to patronise the eateries along the promenade.
