SINGAPORE: Drugs worth an estimated S$86,000 (RM338,000) were seized from a man riding a Malaysian-registered motorcycle at the Woodlands Checkpoint early Monday morning, Singapore’s Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) and Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) said in a joint press release.

ICA officers had stopped the suspect, a 20-year-old Malaysian, upon his arrival at the checkpoint at about 5.20am.

About 460g of heroin was found in his bag and he was subsequently arrested.

The suspect was then referred to the CNB for further investigations, when officers recovered another 460g of heroin and about 120g of Ice from him.

Investigations are ongoing, ICA and CNB said.

They added that the Misuse of Drugs Act provides for the death penalty if the amount of diamorphine, or pure heroin, trafficked exceeds 15g – the equivalent of 1,250 straws that can feed the addiction of about 180 users for a week.
