FIA to scrutinize assets of govt officials in Gujranwala division

SIALKOT: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has established its Special Inquiry Unit (SIU), which has started its fast functioning to conduct the scrutiny of the assets of all the senior government officials and employees in Gujranwala division’s all six districts here.

According to the senior FIA officials, the FIA’s Special Inquiry Unit (SIU) will conduct the regular and continuous secret scrutiny of the assets of  all the senior and junior government officials and employees, as the special FIA teams have started process of secret scrutiny of the senior and junior officials and employees of several federal departments including Wapda, SNGPL,  Federal Board of Revenue(FBR), Customs, PTCL, Pakistan Postal Services Corporation  and National Highways, besides, collecting the data of their properties and financial status since the date of their appointments and till now in these departments.

Senior FIA officials said that after this rapid probe stern legal action would also be taken against all the corrupt officials, besides, bringing them to the task and forfeiting their properties as well.

They added that the FIA would keep the names under secret of those who will provide any relevant information against the assets of the government officials, in this regard.

The senior FIA officials said that the Special Inquiry Unit (SIU) was collecting proofs of the corruption and relevant data would be sent to the senior high ups, in this regard.

They revealed that FIA Director would take action against the corrupt officials till the Grade 16, while Director General FIA would bring the corrupt officials to task above the Grade 16 as well.
