Six development projects worth Rs87b approved for Punjab

LAHORE: The Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP), in its 18th meeting of current fiscal year 2015-16, has approved six development projects of different sectors worth Rs86.946 billion.

P&D Board Punjab Chairman Muhammad Jahanzeb Khan presided over the meeting, while provincial Secretary P&D Iftikhar Ali Sahoo, members of the Planning & Development Board, provincial secretaries concerned and other senior representatives of the relevant provincial departments also attended the meeting.

According to P&D spokesman, the meeting approved development schemes including Solar Solution for Off Grid Schools in Punjab at the cost of Rs1.413 billion, Lahore Orange Line Metro Train Project (from Ali Town to Dera Gujran), (Bridge Finance Facility to Civil Contractors of LDA from the Bank of Punjab) at the cost of Rs312.750 million, Study for Establishment of a model mine based on semi-mechanised mining techniques in Salt Range, Khushab/Chakwal (PC-II) at the cost of Rs23.500 million, establishment of Institute of Urology and Transplantation, Rawalpindi (Revised) at the cost of Rs4.550 billion, Expanded Programme on Immunisation, Punjab (EPI) at the cost of Rs80.590 billion and hiring of consultants for review of request for proposal (RFP) for selection of Sponsors(s) for 120 MW Taunsa Hydro Power Project (PC-II) at the cost of Rs56.462 million.
