Six firms pass pre-qualification for PIA’s privatisation

ISLAMABAD: In a recent move towards the privatisation of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), six companies have successfully pre-qualified to participate in the process.

The decision was announced during a meeting of the Privatisation Commission Board chaired by the Federal Minister for Privatisation Abdul Aleem Khan.

Addressing the board, Aleem Khan said “Transparency and speed are our top priorities in privatising these institutions.”

He went on to say “We must ensure that the technical and financial stability of the companies involved in the privatisation process are thoroughly vetted.

While the identities of the pre-qualified companies have not been disclosed, sources said that the selection was made following a rigorous assessment of their financial health and technical capabilities.

The Privatisation Commission is expected to outline the next steps in the privatisation timeline soon, including the release of detailed criteria and schedules for the final bidding process.
