Six ships take berth at Port Qasim

KARACHI: Six ships namely C.V MSC Bruxeller, M.V W Pacific, M.T CTG Cobalt, M.T Bunga Alamanda, M.T YM Miranda and M.T Ellington carrying containers, Soya Bean Seeds, Palm oil and Chemicals arrived at outer anchorage of Port Qasim during last 24 hours, said a report issued by Port Qasim Authority (PQA) here on Monday.  Berth occupancy was observed at the port at 53% on Sunday where a total of nine ships namely GH Zephyr, Da Hong Xia, Nireas, TRS Mandal, Ever Rich-6, Al-Jassasiya, Grand-Ace-II, Ginga Ocelot and Karachi were occupied PQA berths to load/offload Containers, General Cargo, Soya Bean Seeds, LPG, LNG, Palm oil and Furnace oil respectively.  A cargo volume of 109,168 tonnes, comprising 78,939 tonnes import cargo and 30,229 tonnes export cargo inclusive of containerized cargo carried in 1,651 containers (TEUs), 60 TEUs imports and 1,591 TEUs exports was handled at the port.

A total of five ships, C.V GH Zephyr, M.T TRS Mandal, M.T Al-Jassasiya, M.T Ginga Ocelot and M.T Karachi sailed out to sea on Monday morning, while another ship M.T Grand-Ace-II is expected to sail on same day in the after afternoon.

Four ships C.V MSC Bruxeller, M.T Mer Babu, M.T Bunga Aster and M.T Echo Galaxy scheduled to load/offload Containers, 44,830 tonnes Codensent, 33,634 tonnes Palm oil and 1,306 tonnes LPG are expected to take berths at Container Terminal, FOTCO Terminal, Liquid Terminal and Engro Terminal respectively on Monday, while three more container Vessels X-Press Kailash, MSC Tomoko and Maersk Hartford are due to arrive at PQ on Tuesday.
