KARACHI: Six ships, C.V Express Black Sea, C.V Maersk Memphis, C.V CMA CGM Amazon, M.T Umm Bab, M.T Maritime Yuan and M.T Bunga Allium carrying containers, LNG and Palm oil were allotted berths at Qasim International Container Terminal, Engro Elengy Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively during last 24 hours, said a report issued by Port Qasim Authority (PQA) here on Wednesday.
Meanwhile two more ships, chemicals carrier YM Miranda and General Cargo carrier Ikan Selayang also arrived at outer anchorage of Port Qasim during last 24 hours.
Berth occupancy was managed at the port at sixty three percent on Tuesday where a total of ten ships namely, Express Black Sea, Maersk Memphis, CMA CGM Amazon, RB Eden, Rui Ning-2, Argent Freesia, Umm Bab, M.T Maritime Yuan, Bunga Allium and Genie are currently occupying berths to load/offload Containers, Coal, Yellow Soya Bean, Chemicals, LNG, Palm oil and Furnace oil respectively.
A record cargo handling was achieved at the port where a cargo volume of 181,599 tonnes, comprising 158,628 tonnes import cargo and 22,971 tonnes export cargo inclusive of containerized cargo carried in 3,379 containers TUEs) 2,170 imports TUEs and 1,209 TUEs exports) was handled.
Oil tanker Genie sailed out to sea on Wednesday morning, while Container ship Maersk Memphis is expected to sail on same day afternoon.
Two ships M.V Ikan Selayang and M.T Brizo carrying Project Cargo and Furnace oil are expected to take berths at MW-2 and FOTCO respectively on Wednesday, while oil tanker Lion-M, General Cargo carrier Eit Paloma are due to arrive at PQ on same day and Container Vessel Priority and Oil Tanker Quetta are due to arrive on Thursday, and Teno is due to arrive on Friday, May 19.
