Six ships take berths at Port Qasim

KARACHI: Six ships CV MSC Maeva, CV Al-Hilal, M.T Nordic Gas, Happy Penguin, Ganti Bute and MV Shadong Hai Yao carrying containers, LPG, chemicals, diesel oil and soya bean seeds took berths at Qasim International Container Terminal, SSGC Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal, FOTCO Oil Terminal and Grain and Fertilizer Terminal respectively on Tuesday.

Meanwhile three more ships with containers and soya bean seeds also arrived at outer anchorage of Port Qasim (PQ) during last 24 hours. Berth occupancy was observed at the port at sixty percent on

Monday where a total of nine ships namely MSC Maeva, Al-Hilal, Jumbo Kinetic, Fu Ming, Shadong Hai Yao, Nordic Gas, Happy Penguin, Bunga Alamanda and Ganti Bute are currently occupying berths to load/offload Containers, Project Cargo, Coal, Soya Bean Seeds, LPG, Chemicals, Palm oil and Diesel oil respectively during last 24 hours.

A cargo volume of 88,877 tonnes, comprising 64,557 tonnes import cargo and 24,320 tonnes export cargo inclusive of containerized cargo carried in 2,599 containers TEUs) 1,319 imports TUEs & 1,280 TUEs exports) was handled at the port during last 24 hours.

CV MSC Maeva sailed out to sea on Tuesday morning, while two more ships CV Al-Hilal and M.V Jumbo Kinetic are expected to sail on same day afternoon.

Three ships MSC Al-Ghero, Northern Monument and Vera carrying Containers and Project Cargo are expected to take berths at Container Terminal and Multi Purpose Terminal respectively on Tuesday, while two more ships ‘Brizo’ and ‘Maersk Salina’ are due to arrive at PQ on Wednesday, and Suez Canal is due to arrive on Thursday.
