DUBLIN: European pay-TV group Sky Plc reported Thursday that its nine-month revenues increased to 8.72 billion pounds from 8.45 billion pounds last year. Revenues grew 5 percent at constant exchange rates.
Subscription revenue, our largest category, delivered strong revenue growth of 4% across the group. Transactional revenue was the fastest growing segment, up 21%.
UK and Ireland generated revenues of $6.16 billion pounds, 6 percent higher than last year at constant rates. Germany and Australia revenues grew 10 percent, while that of Italy fell 2 percent.
In the period, operating profit was 1.14 billion pounds, higher than last year’s 1.03 billion pounds. UK and Ireland posted 15 percent increase. The company delivered an 80 basis point increase in operating margin to 13.1%.
Retail customers as of March 31, 2016 were 21.65 million, compared to 20.85 million last year. The company noted that 177 thousand new customers joined in the third quarter.
