COLOMBO: The Sri Lankan government said here the other day it will allow the construction of a section of the Chinese funded Colombo port city project to continue to prevent damage from sea erosion.
Sri Lankan Minister of Ports, Shipping and Aviation Arjuna Ranatunga told journalists in the capital Colombo that the advice of the Attorney General has been sought over the remaining aspects of the project which has been suspended, mainly over environment concerns.
Officials said temporary suspension had damaged most of the parts that had already been built and the lack of time to complete the breakwater had caused the reclaimed land to erode into the sea.
