Among US Smartphone users age 18 and up, 71.2 per cent had the Facebook app as of February, up from 69.7 per cent in January, Investors.com notes.

The next three spots are ruled by Google apps including YouTube at 56.4 per cent, Google Search at 52.2 per cent and Google Play at 51.4 per cent.

With Facebook emphasizing on its Messenger service, the app ranked at 51.2 per cent, up from 47.4 per cent in January and just 24.5 per cent in January 2014. It was followed by apps for Google Maps at 44.1 per cent and Gmail at 42.9 per cent.

Pandora Media dropped to 41.4 per cent in February. Other top apps include Facebook’s Instagram, Amazon Mobile, Apple iTunes Radio/Cloud, Twitter, Apple Maps and Google+.

Instant photo-sharing app Snapchat featured in the top 15 in February with 19.2 per cent Smartphone penetration. However, as comScore doesn’t count people under 18 to calculate penetration, this ranking is inaccurate and understates Snapchat’s reach which is huge amongst teens.
