NEW DELHI: An official of tax recovery department, Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC), said that department is expected surplus of Rs 5.5 billion revenue by March 2015.
” This recovery is against the total demand of Rs 663 crore for year and we expect to cross Rs 550 crore by the time financial year ends” he said.
Last year against the total demand of Rs 607 crore from 17.50 lakh tax payers, the collection stood at Rs 521 crore by the end of the year.
This year, number of tax payers have increased by one lakh and total number of tax payers are pegged at 18.50 lakh.
SMC has been collecting record break tax since last three years and is likely to continue the same way even this year.
