Smeda holds workshop on Supply Chain Management for SMEs

LAHORE: Recognizing requirement of fan industry, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (Smeda) Tuesday organised a one-day training workshop on ‘Supply Chain Management (SCM)’ in collaboration with Pakistan Electric Fan Manufacturers Association (PEFMA).

The representatives of different SMEs including small business owners, Purchase Managers, Operations Managers, Inventory Managers, Supply Chain Managers, Store Managers, Material Managers, Production Executives and Inventory Executives attended the workshop, which was addressed by Ijaz Yusuf, a renowned expert on SCM, PEFMA Chairman Imad Rafique and Smeda-Punjab Chief Raja Hassanien Javed.

The SCM expert, Ijaz Yusuf, gave a detailed presentation on the real time strategies and proven tools and skills for effectively putting in place SCM in the business processes. He explained the challenges of SCM in competitive business world, aggregate demand in supply chain, supply chain pull and push views and just in time, inventories and its impact on supply chain, safety stocks and service levels, purchasing and procurement, supplier selection, supplier development and evaluation, designing distribution networks in supply chain, supply chain mapping, SCOR model and supply chain performance, warehousing performance measurement and transportation in supply chain.

PEFMA Chairman Imad Rafique appreciated efforts of Smeda for handholding of the fan sector. He said, “Supply Chain Management (SCM) is an integral part of most of the businesses and essential to enterprise success and customer satisfaction. The businesses specifically Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) engaged in the fan manufacturing industry were increasingly feeling the need to improve knowledge and skills for successful implementation of tools and strategies for SCM to enhance productivity and achieve cost-effectiveness in products and services.

He expressed gratitude to Smeda for fulfilling need of the fan industry by holding a full-day workshop.

While, Raja Hassanien Javed has assured the business community that Smeda Punjab would keep on extending need and demand based capacity building services to the business community, and programmes of similar nature would be conducted in other cities of Punjab.
