SMEDA managing 18 projects of Rs 1.85b: Govt launches 27 projects worth Rs 28.85b

ISLAMABAD: The federal government has unveiled 27 projects worth Rs28.85 billion to boost activities of industrial sector.

Sheikh Aftab Ahmed, Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs, revealed this while responding to the queries of the members of National Assembly during question-hour session.

Aftab said that eight Export Processing Zones have been established for industrial sector. He informed the House that Yamaha Motorcycle Industry will make investment of $150 million within next five years, adding that the other manufacturers in motorcycle industry will be encouraged to make new investment.

The state minister said that 9 projects out of 27 have been completed, adding that Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA) is currently managing 18 projects with a total outlay of Rs 1.85 billion.
