Smuggled BMW-740i valued Rs15.125m impounded

ISLAMABAD: Directorate General Intelligence and Investigation, Federal Board of Revenue Rawalpindi, impounded a non-duty-paid used BMW 740i car worth Rs15.125million.

On a tip-off, Intelligence officer Maqbool Ahmed, Shahid Majeed and other staff stopped the car which had a fake registration No: LEE 13-3450. The vehicle was signalled to stop but the driver did not care and accelerated the speed of the vehicle. The team chased the car.

The driver abandoned the car after covering some distance and fled the scene. Despite hectic efforts, the team could not trace out the driver so the team of Customs I&I impounded the vehicle in the presence of the witnesses.

No import record exists as per import data of the vehicle available with the directorate general and Pakistan Revenue Automation Ltd. After the seizure of the BMW, nobody appeared to claim the ownership of the car.
