Smuggled NDP Mini Cooper car being used by Red Bull Co. taken into possession

ISLAMABAD: The Special Car Cell, Directorate General of Customs Intelligence and Investigation, Federal Board of Revenue, has impounded a Foreign Origin non-duty-paid smuggled Mini Cooper worth Rs3million. The car belongs to a popular energy drink company “Red Bull” and was being used for its publicity.

The Special Car Cell received a tip-off that a non-duty-paid smuggled vehicle Mini Cooper Car with registration No: AVQ-149 Sindh, Model 2011, is moving in the area of G-10 Markaz Islamabad.

The Special Car Cell team, comprising Superintendent Saeed Ahmed, Intelligence Officer Gul Nawaz, Sepoy Zahid-ul-Islam and Sepoy Arslan Zafar, rushed to the Markaz G-10 and took into possession the tipped-off vehicle in front of a private hospital from Ali Pervaiz son of Amjad Pervaiz, a resident of House No: E-249/8, Block-E, Satellite Town Rawalpindi.

On demand, driver of the car failed to produce any valid import documents except a registration book. Therefore vehicle Mini Cooper was impounded under Section 17 of the Customs Act-1969 for further verification of its import status and payment of duties and taxes and lab test.
