Despite some hectic efforts, nobody came forward to claim the vehicle. The occupant of the vehicle, noticing the arrival of the staff, fled the scene.

After waiting for two hours, the vehicle was impounded in the presence of witnesses and shifted to the HQs office at G-10/4 Islamabad. The chassis of the vehicle was physically examined and tallied with the record data of import, Amnesty Scheme 2013 and auctioned vehicles available with the directorate general but no record of the same chassis number was found.

So the said vehicle with fake registration number has been impounded under Section 168 of the Customs Act for violation of Sections 2(s) & 16 of Customs Act-1969.
