Smugglers killed at Wagha Border identified

LAHORE: Smugglers killed by the  Punjab Rangers at Wagha Border on Monday night had been identified as Kashif and Sarfraz.

On Monday night, two smugglers tried to smuggle Indian alcohol to Pakistan through Wagha Border and were killed by the Punjab Rangers. Kashif and Sarfraz were carrying 38 bottles of alcohol from India with the help of Indian Border Security Force personnel. Both Kashif and Sarfraz belonged to a village Machu of Bata Pur Lahore which is near to Wagha Border.

According to the Rangers official, an unusual movement was spotted at border between Pakistan and India when the team took notice. Rangers’ personnel faced armed resistance when they tried to stop the smugglers. A hot pursuit resulted in the killing of both smugglers on the spot. Punjab rangers seized 38 bottles of Indian alcohol from smugglers and send their bodies to hospital for postmortem and investigation.
