LAHORE: After miscreants blew up a main pipeline of 24-inch diameter in Dera Bugti, the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) was faced with a shortage of 21MMCFD of gas in the system, thus the supply to Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has been disrupted.
Especially, Valencia Town, Wapda Town, Township, Green Town and some parts of Johar Town suffered shortage of gas. As per the SNGPL managing director, the low gas pressure in Lahore was not due to pipeline blast but it was a result of replacement/maintenance of a 16-inch gas pipeline at a newly-constructed road.
SNGPL MD Arif Hameed said, “Although the system is facing 21MMCFD gas shortage due to pipeline blast by terrorists in Dera Bugti on Tuesday, it has left no impact on gas supply to domestic consumers.” He said the situation would be normal in the next two days.
