LAHORE: The repair work has been completed at the Sui plant after which 240mmcfd gas supply was restored to Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Both of these provinces fall under the Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited (SNGPL).
Senior officials say though the gas supply has been restored, which was suspended owing to a fire incident at the Sui plant some days ago, it took time to reach the SNGPL system.
“We have so far succeeded in improving the gas supply to mega cities of the both provinces, including Lahore, after we increased the pressure following receiving the required gas,” Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited Managing Director Arif Hameed said.
He said the gas supply to small towns and cities would also improve gradually.
Answering a question, the SNGPL managing director said as many as 40 consumers had been punished in the Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited region after special teams disconnected their gas supply by removing meters, for being involved in using compressors to extract gas unlawfully.
