TORONTO: Climate forecasters say rain on Monday can turn to snow overnight, and continue falling into Tuesday.
The rain is anticipated to begin in the morning, stated Mike Montefusco, a meteorologist with the National Climate Service in Wakefield. Climate reports indicate that the wintry mix could set in involving 8 p.m. Monday and two a.m. Tuesday, and snow may perhaps come just after 2 a.m. Tuesday.
By Tuesday’s finish, the Peninsula could see 1 to 1.five inches of accumulation.
A storm coming from the north is anticipated to drop about two feet of snow in New England and much more than a foot in New York and New Jersey, said Lyle Alexander, a climate service meteorologist. As it moves south, exactly where temperatures are warmer, the snowfall will lessen, leaving a just dusting in Newport News.
Calling for milder temperatures on Monday, equivalent to Sunday, Lyle stated the higher is anticipated to be in the 50s. Temperatures will fall Tuesday as the day goes on with highs in the mid 30s. Wednesday will warm up a bit with highs in the upper 30s. Overnight temperatures will dip well beneath freezing and hover in the 20s, Lyle mentioned.
While meteorologists could not say that this was the start off of an additional snowy season for the area, no one particular need to pack up those warm coats, scarves and gloves any time quickly. Alexander mentioned he wouldn’t be surprised to see extra snow flakes in the forecast next week.
The Virginia Department of Transportation issued a warning to northern Virginia residents for their morning commute Monday and by means of the next 36 hours as the area near Washington, D.C., braces for about five inches of snow.
Crews have been out Sunday treating roads across the state, VDOT mentioned. But in regions such as Hampton Roads, anti-icing will not take spot because rain is expected prior to snow.
