LONDON: Let’s tackle the elephant in the room first. Solar installers have a bright future. Yes, DECC has shifted the goalposts but that simply means it’s time to adjust your aim.

The UK will remain a gigawatt market in 2016, even if the government’s proposed cuts are implemented. Alongside that PV opportunity are a host of new sectors for installers to plug into.

We surveyed you, the installer to find out what your plans are for 2016. The overwhelming majority said they would be looking to expand their offering with energy storage, LED lighting, EV infrastructure or renewable heat.

If you are among them, you need to come to Birmingham for Solar Energy UK 2015, 13-15 October.

If you want to hone your solar business to capture commercial customers who were never interested in the relative small change of FiT revenue or the community market which offers genuine promise, you need to come to Birmingham.

If you have been eyeing storage as a key complementary technology to sell alongside solar or as a value add for your existing installed customer base…you guessed it, you need to come to Birmingham.

Conference sessions have been developed following feedback from you. This is your show and you have to be there to make the most of it. Speakers from the BRE National Solar Centre, Ofgem, DECC along with leading UK installers and will help you navigate the changes to the market. Local authorities, the Energy Managers Association and end users like Marks & Spencer Energy will be present. Vendors of key emerging technologies like Enphase, Saft, Smappee, Powervault, Sunamp and many more are among the 220+ exhibitors, up 21% on last year, in attendance.  Our Solar Power Portal Awards ceremony has also grown by 20% with just 30 tickets left at the time of writing.

More than 120 industry experts will share their experience to help installers tap into the community energy market, diversify their business, get familiar with the new IET code of practice and much, much more throughout the conference sessions.

The future for solar installers means offering them more than a lucrative FiT income. Solar is no longer an investment product, it’s about saving energy and lowering bills. Doing so effectively means engaging with new product segments and being able to competently discuss all of a customer’s energy needs.

Register now and take even one day off the roof this October, to ensure you have many more days working across the entire clean energy spectrum next year.
