ISLAMABAD: The workshop on Evidence Based Planning was held in the Planning Commission. Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal chaired the workshop ceremony. The Minister said that a solid planning needs collection of data on scientific lines.
Highlighting the role of data collection in the planning & policy making the Federal Minister said, “One of the reasons of our chequered planning history is inability to produce data on scientific lines. The scarcity of trained human resources in demography, epidemiology and health information systems further complicates the compilation of good quality data from social sector particularly from health information system.
He attributed solid planning and policy making with credible and healthy data statistics. He said, “The 18th amendment, while providing more autonomy to the provinces, requires a fresh approach to planning and implementation. Vision 2025 focuses on reoriented and repositioned human resources, deployment of new technologies, restructuring of institutions etc. The objective of our reform agenda is to restore the credibility of our institutions in performance delivery through open and reliable data system and skilled professionals”.
