LONDON: Some five million Windows Insiders, or those who took part in the testing for Windows 10, will be the first to get the OS once it is rolled out, Microsoft’s Terry Myerson said in a blog post.
“Starting on July 29, we will start rolling out Windows 10 to our Windows Insiders. From there, we will start notifying reserved systems in waves, slowly scaling up after July 29th,” Myerson said.
“We want to make sure all of you have a great upgrade experience, so we’ll roll-out Windows 10 in phases to help manage the demand,” he added.
He said Microsoft will “listen, learn and update the experience for all Windows 10 users” each day of the rollout.
Those who reserved a copy of Windows 10 will be notified once Microsoft establishes they will have a “great experience,” and Windows 10 has been downloaded on their systems.
Windows 10 is expected to come with Microsoft’s digital assistant Cortana, Windows Hello, the Microsoft Edge browser and Continuum.
Also, Myerson said this will be the first time Microsoft will deliver Windows as a service, “with the commitment to offer ongoing innovations and security updates to you.”
OEM, retail
Myerson said they will soon give a build of Windows 10 to OEM partners so they can start imaging new devices with Windows 10.
